Student dressed up in HackleWWI Workshop

Engaging with the Museum displays and handling original and replica objects, the World War One workshop encourages secondary pupils to consider what it might have felt like to be a soldier fighting in the trenches. Each pupil is given an identity card and will be asked to identify with a soldier to try to better understand his experience in the trenches.

The workshop is divided into four workstations, each led by a volunteer and lasting around 25 minutes. Pupils rotate from one workstation to another. The group should be divided into four smaller groups. We would appreciate it if this was organised prior to the Museum visit.
